I welcome comments, corrections, additions or recommendations for 'Best Practices' from those more knowledgable than I. I'm putting what I learned here, in the hopes that it will help someone else trying to set up Samba File sharing on their Pi. I've incorporated their suggestions into this as I have time to go back and edit. Also thanks to those who have commented on this thread. Also thanks to Ben for his very helpful guide: Use USB hard disk & flash drives with your Raspberry Pi. I'd like to thank users FBE and thagrol here in the Raspberry Pi Forums for the help in figuring out how to do this (mostly in this thread). I'm not an expert at this, but after a number of mistakes, including following youtube tutorials and other instructions that were incomplete or were full of errors, I finally got Samba file sharing working on my Pi. ![]()
